Are you a baker or do you fancy yourself a iron smith? Find out at the preHistoric Village together with your collegues, friends or family. Go back 2000 years in time and discover a whole new world! A remarkable 'medieval' meal, lunch or barbecue in the "Den Bonten Oss" inn will complete your visit. Below you will find a summary of all group activities in the preHistoric Village.

Rattling the pots and pans

Fingerlicking good

No professional kitchen, luxury stoves or multi-functional ovens, but artisanal preparation methods and products straight from Mother Nature. Enjoy! Together, you will prepare a savoury meal over a gently burning wood fire in the Iron Age village of  'Eversham'.

Prehistoric tasting

The meal you will prepare consists of a rich beef and vegatable soup, freshly baked bread with a rich variety of shapes and fillings, fresh yoghurt, nut paste and pancakes. Afterwards you will dine together on your self made meal beside a gentle campfire in the prehistoric village of 'Eversham'.

  • Preparing the courses for the tasting, including the following activities: making fire, cleaving wood, seasoning cheese, baking bread, making walnut paste, making soup and baking pancakes.

The Pancake Masters of Eversham

Who bakes the best pancakes?

This program is all about co-operation. Which group will bake the best pancakes. This may sound easy but in the prehistory this would place you before an enormous challenge! Who can claim the title of 'Pancake Master of Eversham' and bask in glory for evermore?


Program

  • Tour and explanation of the activities.
  • Dividing in groups and assign tasks.
  • Beginning of the activities: making rope, making fire. chopping wood. milling grain, making wooden tenons, egg-grabbing and baking pancakes.
  • Judging of the pancakes.
  • Presentation and eating of the pancakes. 

Optional

  • Reception with coffee and tea.
  • Reception with coffee, tea and pastry.
  • To conclude the day a delicious aperitif will be served.

The taste of primal bread

Baking bread, how was this done in days of yore? During this workshop you will learn all the necessary steps to prepare  delicious primal bread. Subsequently the bread will be baked in a wood oven, with a rich variety of fillings and shapes. This is hard work, but when the bread is ready and comes out of the oven you can enjoy it together with a freshly brewed cup of herbal tea.

Experience prehistory

Become a dweller of the prehistoric village of 'Eversham' for a while and step back 2500 years in time! Encounter typical prehistorical activities like chopping wood, making fire and baking pancakes. Activities like canoeing or javelin throwing are also possible, weather permitting. First of all, one of the villagers will show you around, of course.
