Summer holiday at the preHistorisch Dorp
This summer holiday, travel back in time at the preHistorisch Dorp. At this open-air museum in Eindhoven, you will experience what life was like in the age of hunter-gatherers, in the age of the first farmers or during the time the Vikings were here. There’s something new to discover with our historical inhabitants every day. So, from 3 July until 3 September, our museum is the place to be for a historical and adventurous day out!
Living history
At the preHistorisch Dorp you will experience daily life from prehistoric times until the Late Middle Ages. History comes to life here! Learn the tricks of the trade from artisans and watch or help our villagers.
We have many different summer activities with historical inhabitants, and they change every day. For example:
- Light a fire like a Viking
- Navigate the canoe like a hunter
- Write like a medieval monk
- Hunt for prehistoric prey using a real javelin
- Shoot bow and arrow like Robin Hood
- And much more!
The ArcheoFactory: where finds turn into stories
The ArcheoFactory is a modern lab at the museum park where you can try for yourself what you can discover about the past using the latest technologies. For how does an archaeologist turn finds into a story about the past? At the ArcheoFactory, you will learn how archaeologists work and how you can create a reconstruction of the past – just like an archaeologist. All information is available in English. There’s also a guide present to steer you through the various stations in case you need more help.
