The preHistorisch Dorp really comes to life during the weekends! Visit the museum on a Saturday or Sunday to let us surprise you with all you can discover here. One day you’ll meet a Viking, another day the hunter’s tent is inhabited by a real hunter. At Eindhoven’s best open-air museum, no day is the same!
A weekend full of surprises
Our historical inhabitants will take you on a trip back in time. Enjoy their stories and get a feel for past atmospheres. Even real history buffs can always discover something new here.
During the weekends, there’s a tour with a guide every day at 1:00 PM starting at the medieval market square. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about history and the museum and ask all of your questions. There are also two puppet shows every day.
Do you like to be active on your own? You can! We can teach you, for example, how to make fire without matches, bake bread over a fire, or practice archery.
Are you in need of a refreshment during or after your time travel? The Inn Den Bonten Os, located on the market square, is open daily to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger.
Your own journey
It’s not just our residents who are ready to help you all day long at our houses, you can also set out on a journey of discovery yourself! For more in-depth exploration, choose the free audio tour or museum guide at the ticket desk. These will lead you past the many surprising spots in our museum and teach you all about the different periods in history experienced by the Dutch, from prehistory to the late Middle Ages. In a short time, you’ll become an expert in our history.
In our open-air museum, you experience the past: from straw in your hair and the smell of smoke in your clothes to mud on your shoes. Don’t worry: you can always freshen up at the restrooms.

Free activity booklet
Are you going to visit the preHistorisch Dorp during the weekend? Then you’ll receive a free activity booklet at the entrance. Inside, you’ll find more information about everything you can do in the preHistorisch Dorp, from spear throwing in prehistory to the pillory in the Middle Ages. You’ll also find all kinds of activities and puzzles that tell you more about the past. Stories from historical figures guide you through different time periods and past the sights and activities in the preHistorisch Dorp. The booklet is also packed full of puzzles you can do at home or in the museum. You’re welcome to take the activity booklet home after your visit. Perfect for reliving your time-travel experience!
Weekend in the preHistorisch Dorp
- Opening time: from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Price: € 13.50. Free for children up to 3 years and Museum Card holders.
Museum tickets are also available at the box office, while supplies last. - Ticket sales: online and at the box office.
Route and parking
You can park your car for free at the preHistorisch Dorp. From there you can reach our museum within a few minutes' walk. Preferably do not park your car in the neighborhood.
Is the parking lot full? Then park at Anton Coolenlaan 5. From here you can have a nice 15 minutes walk through the Genneper Parks to arrive at the museum. Along the way you will pass green meadows and wooded environments.
